The insulation of the flat roof of the St. Jakobshalle Arena is end-of-life and in parts no longer watertight.

For Winter 2023/2024 it will be necessary to replace the damaged waterproofing with a slated roof construction as an emergency measure.

The final repair of the roof depends on various user requirements. Immobilien Basel-Stadt has carried out a feasibility study for a solar panelling system. The user wishes to raise the load capacity for events. An interdisciplinary review of the roof construction with regards to the various user requirements is being prepared.  

The tasks are divided into two categories.

1. waldner partner has been commissioned as Owner’s Representative for the realisation of the emergency design and construction measure until November 2023.
2. waldner partner has been commissioned to develop a proposal as to how the various stakeholders with their user requirements can reach an agreement on the approach to the final repair, taking into account all building, operational and official conditions.
